The Classical Society

Established in 1992, the UCLA Classical Society is an officially recognized student organization sponsored by the Department of Classics. The Society is an organization of students, faculty, and affiliated members of the UCLA community with a shared interest in the literature, culture and art of ancient Greece and Rome. The Society sponsors lectures, films, readings of classical works, trips to local museums and theater, and a variety of other events associated with the study of classical antiquity and its modern reception. Membership is open to all UCLA students who have an interest in Classics and want to meet others with similar interests. To find out more, please contact uclaclassicalsociety@gmail.com

Eta Sigma Phi

In 2016, UCLA chartered a chapter of Eta Sigma Phi, the official honorary society for classical studies. Activities and events are administered by the Classical Society. Once students have met the membership requirement (completion of one year of ancient language study), they may be inducted into Eta Sigma Phi. You can visit their Instagram page for more information and current events.
